Summer is here, and the beautiful flowers from this Mammillaria rhodantha appear here at Finca La Viña. This cactus is endemic to Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Jalisco in Mexico, although it has spread throughout the world as an ornamental plant decorating gardens and seedlings.
Its flowers sprout in a ring around the crown, are small flowers of intense pink color. They usually appear once a year so we will only have one chance to enjoy them. They are beautiful flowers with very different characteristics to those we are used to seeing.
This plant is quite resistant to drought and has adapted very well to the Mediterranean climate. It does not need to be watered in winter, the existing humidity is enoughto keep the plant healthy. It is a great pleasure to enjoy these flowers.
